How to Find Joy Outside of Work

HOW DO YOU FIND JOY OUTSIDE OF YOUR WORK 🌈

When working with Gieselle Allen, she asked: what does joy look like for you?

I eagerly responded: HELPING MY CLIENTS FIND CLARITY AND FIND CONFIDENCE IN THEIR VALUE & BIZ.

She said: that’s nice...but what about, OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I had no answer.

It was here when I realized I had made ~what I do~ such an ingrained part of my identity that I didn’t really know who I was outside of it. It showed up as:

  • Becoming emotionally invested, and eventually drained

  • Difficulty disconnecting outside of my “office hours”

  • Internalizing criticism and “hard days” as “being” a failure

  • Turning my job title into my only identity & introduction

  • Neglecting other areas of my life like relationships, health & personal development

Loving what you do is definitely beautiful, and a positive thing, but this is my reminder for you to check in with yourself and ask — are you reaching a point where your obsession with work is blinding you from taking care of you?

If the answer is yes: take a step back and play a little. It may start with a new hobby, travel (p@ndemy-safe), or reconnecting with people you love.

Trust me, finding the distinction between work-life and IRL-life is important to building your business in a way that you don’t lose yourself in it.
