How to not overthink your social media numbers
COME ON, let’s admit that the feeling of your “numbers” being low stings a little 😬
It’s totally normal. And I’d argue that the icky feeling never truly goes away. We just learn to move past it quicker and more effectively.
So what do we do about it?
1️⃣ Instead of letting “one” number or day of results get to you, wait and see patterns over time. Was it just a fluke? Or is it a pattern that you can now better understand and use to adjust your strategy?
2️⃣ Take a big picture look. Do the numbers look “low” to you, but are you still crushing industry standards? Like, 2-3% engagement rate. 10% of your audience know views. Often times, we’re doing better than we think.
3️⃣ Let it go and have some fun with what you’re making. “Low” numbers inspire me to experiment more and get closer to my community. Hey, if less people are watching it means I can play a little harder with my loyal squad 😉
4️⃣ Disconnect and find a space to recharge. If you’re really going through it and feeling negatively about your platform, it’s an invitation to step away and reconnect to other things that bring you joy offline. Come back when you’re ready.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being “sos” and 5 being “idc”) how attached do you still feel to the numbers? 👇
