How to Ask a Brand for Money

FAQ: How do I ask a brand for money if I’m the one reaching out to THEM?

Well, the real answer is you don’t think about how to ask for money on day one...you focus on how you will build a relationship with them AND THEN naturally flow into the money conversation once you’ve learned more about a brand’s needs and how/when they work with influencers.

You should be ending your pitches with lines like these:

- I’d love to connect over (virtual) coffee and hear more about how you work with influencers. What’s your availability like?

- Now that you know a little bit about me, I’d love to connect and hear about your goals and Influencer marketing plans for the year to understand how I can bring you value. What’s your availability like?

- I want to find a way to provide value for your brand and my community through a collaboration that makes sense for us both. What’s your availability to connect and discuss more?

With more context, you’re better positioned to a) price out a collaboration for them that makes most sense after having spoken about it or b) a brand may just give YOU an offer after they get to know you beyond the introduction e-mail.

In short: think like the business owner you are. It’s a relationship business, not a transaction.
