Staycation in My Own Backyard: New York City's Times Square

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com on behalf of The Red Collection, but all opinions are my own.

This year, I moved to a new apartment located in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the city: Times Square. To longtime New Yorkers, this is usually a no-go zone because of the heavy tourists. Which brings me to my next point…for tourists, this is the PLACE TO BE!

And after almost a year of living here, I have to agree. There’s nothing like the bright city lights to remind you that you’re in someplace special. So, why not experience all the action up close by staying there?

I recently stayed at The Red Collection®’s Lord & Moris Times Square Hotel to give myself a staycation in my own backyard at a unique budget hotel. If you’re visiting the city, this is a very affordable place to stay that’s just steps away from major landmarks you’d want to see in the city — especially if it’s your first time! You’re less than a mile from places like Broadway’s theaters, Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building and tons of shopping.

Being a boutique hotel, you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable stay while remaining cost-effective. Being a part of The Red Collection, a hyper-local soft brand of Red Roof, the concept is centered on bringing travelers unique localized experiences while still providing the value, comfort and affordability of its parent brand. Everything was fresh, amenities like free WiFi and room service were a plus, and the staff was very friendly and there for me with anything I needed.

What’s a stay near Times Square if you aren’t exploring?

My top 3 things to do in Times Square:

  • See a Broadway Show: you should take advantage of the TKTS booth for discounts, or give a try to the ticket lottery to snag discounted tickets.

  • Walk to Bryant Park: just a few avenues away is a really neat space that in the summer is filled with people and performances, while in the winter you might find yourself a cute holiday market. You’re now near landmarks like Rockefeller Center and Radio City, too!

  • Grab a Hop-On, Hop-Off sightseeing tour: I know it looks cheesy, but if it’s your first time in the city and you want to see all the “hits” really quickly then this is a great bet. It takes you to major landmarks without having to pay on transportation to and from each of these places — the handy bus is waiting for you.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE

Red Roof is launching a great Black Friday & Cyber Monday travel sale to snag a room for 20-30% discount. This will be live from November 29th to December 5th and it’s applicable for stays on 11/29 - 2/29/2020.
